Mind Projections

In her artistic research project Mind Projections, artist Dalea Kovačec continues her research into the impact of digital and information technologies on human perception, which she has been continuously translating into diverse and content-tailored artistic media for a long time. The installation consists of an interactive spatial installation in which electroencephalography is used to provide indirect insight into the electrical activity of the individual's brain during a moderated memory experience. The work, which is generated and shaped each time by the participation of the viewer, is interdisciplinary in the themes it addresses, referring to the natural sciences as well as the social sciences and humanities. By visualising the neurological activity of the individual and problematising the act of sharing, the work alludes to the nowadays less and less clear boundary between the private and the public, and by thematising the entry of technologies into the most intimate spaces of our lives, it encourages reflection on the impact of digital images, both foreign and our own, on the formation and potential transformation of an inherently reconstructive and suggestive human memory.
