Hommage to Edith

The work is a tribute to the pioneer of Scandinavian literary modernism Edith Irene Södergran (1892-1923). More than a hundred years after the creation of her poems The Light Daughter of the Forest, A Caught Bird, and Forest Darkness, I have explored the possibilities of combining her poems with the latest generative models (CLIP), which allow me to steer the aesthetics of the works in infinitely new directions. Using basic structures to train models from text to latent video, I created visual narratives that illustrate the content, mood, idea, and message of Edith's poems. These suggest a rich and multi-layered mixing of social views and individual impressions rather than a monotonous and linear development of situations. Eight shop windows on Koroška Street display prints selected from a multitude of images in the process of generating latent videos. In the 3D construction on the Main Square, visitors can trigger the playback of these prints in augmented reality technology on their mobile devices.
