Jože Slaček

Jože Slaček (SI) is a video, animation, and multimedia artist. In the 1980s, he was an active member of the creative group Inkriminalni kolektiv and of the anarcho-punk group Anarchromixz. During this period, he created photographs by scratching into film, graffiti, and short comics. In the early 1990s, he shifted his focus to computer art and organized several series of screenings and presentations as part of the Virtual Reality program, followed by the subsequent series Theory of Contemporary Art. In 1993, he became the first artist in Slovenia to regularly work in the field of intermedia arts, organizing lectures, screenings, exhibitions, and festivals. He initiated the International Festival of Computer Arts (MFRU) in Maribor and contributed to the production and publication of books (Cyberfeminism, In the Insides of a Computer, Stelarc, The Future of Computer Art – 10 Years of MFRU). From 1995 to 2008, he served as the head and occasional selector of the MFRU festival. He played a role in organizing and authoring VR projects – Spaces and Forms, hyperFacade on the facade of the Cultural Incubator, Museum of Robots (in collaboration with Meta Kordiš and UGM), nanoArt, and Cyber Theatre.
