Sense the City, presentation of the project

The project city{making}sense (C{M}S for short), by architect and urban planner Andrej Žižek in collaboration with Institute IRNAS, explores the data reality of trees implanted in the urban fabric. The project uses collected sensor data to delve into the parallel reality of trees and their potential role as carriers of sensory infrastructure. An abstract imprint of the tree's existence is generated through sensor add-ons that sense the state of the environment directly next to the tree. Through their presence, trees shape the microclimatic space in their immediate surroundings. Their presence represents a point of connection to the users of the urban space and the city as a mega-structure.

The C{M}S project is one of the Maribor projects within the context of konS – Platform for Contemporary Investigative Art and MKC (Youth Cultural Center)/Cultural Incubator "Laboratory for Robotics and Urban Transformation", which was developed as part of this project.
