Geography and Geographying. Notes on the Normative Disposition of Analytical Models
Author | George Papamattheakis |
Our planetary sensing and computing apparatus has become indispensable in comprehending the environment. It seems, however, that the descriptive models which this apparatus employs and generates sometimes beget a rather normative disposition, latently influencing our responses to their analytical readings. From the descriptive model being misunderstood for a propositional map to the implicit assumptions underlining the collection and subsequent assemblage of data, the framing and hermeneutics of the models comprise essential design projects, pointing to some worthy extensions of the planetary modification praxis.
