Matej Mihevc

Matej Mihevc (b. 1995) is a third-year student of video and new media at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. In his work he mostly focuses on sampling, that is, re‑contextualisation and combinatorial reciprocity of different elements of cultural production. He uses various computer programs (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Blender, Ableton …) and the basics of JavaScript and Phython programming languages to create works that are in some way or another based on the method of collage and explore the relations between individual signifiers in an attempt to expose the mechanisms through which these convey meaning. Lately he has also been exploring various industrial processes and artificial materials (3D print, plastic moulding etc.) as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence. For the last four years, he has been the host of the radio program Modem at Radio Študent, where he explores the internet’s musical underground.
