Betina Habjanič

Betina Habjanič (SI, 1992) studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana (ALUO) and completed her studies at the Department of Trans Art of the Angewandte in Vienna. Independent of her programme or artistic medium, she works as an animal rights activist, using the medium of art as a tool for artivism. She uses her rhetoric to explore visceral motifs within so-called live art. She chooses performance as her main medium of action in art and activism, within which she radically draws attention to the uncompromising human instrumentalisation of animals in order to fulfil their needs. She is embedded in the Slovenian and international space within the pioneering representation of animal rights issues and is establishing her own pillar of action within the Animal Enterprise Transparency Project (AETP).
