The emergence of a new society in front of screens and between four walls

Being at home, between four walls. On the sofa, with a freshly brewed coffee nearby, laptop in your lap, phone within reach and headphones on your head. Isolated. Soft, warm and safe. This idyllic image is no longer an exception to be enjoyed on holidays and weekends, but is becoming the centre of life and even the working environment for many people. The lecture asks how society is changing in times of upheaval, such as the pandemic of Covid-19, and what kind of human being is emerging within the supposedly safe and comfortable shelter of four walls. It will highlight three guidelines that mark the development of society: 1. Isolation and atomisation, 2. Life in front of screens, 3. Fear of the dangerous and unclean. It will present the implications of these developments and the possibilities to turn humanity's transformation in a more positive direction, where it will be possible to exit the living environment and disconnect from technological gadgets.
