Introduction to (un)made Objects

(un)made objects are the result of a series of unintended matches between demand and supply. The initial moment can be likened to the Off-the-shelf Mochi phenomenon, a Japanese saying that describes a situation where something happens with perfect timing. When such moments occur in succession, they may form an accidental supply chain, as reflected in another Japanese saying, "When the wind blows, the barrel maker prospers." Once you manage to gain control over this chain, you can create an (un)made object—a new type of climate-friendly product that differs from reused, upcycled, or recycled goods. Inari, who is currently pursuing an engineering PhD on this topic, will guide participants through hands-on and conceptual exercises in this workshop, where they will learn how to potentially craft (un)made objects.
