How AI-Generated Art Can Expand -- and Even Explode -- Our Conceptions of Art, Culture and Aesthetics

The prospect of AI-generated art challenges so many aspects of the artworld that one sometimes feels that exceedingly high standards are set for counting something generated by a machine as art so that no machine could ever possibly meet them. In that case, the potential challenges never materialize. Unfortunately, these standards may be so high that most human-generated art couldn't meet them! I shall take a more open approach to the question of AI-generated art, focusing on the light it shines on the limitations of how we have tended to think about art, culture and aesthetics.
